February 2010. Naim has released a significant update for the award-winning NaimUniti.
The update will be obtainable only by taking your player(s) to your Naim retailer. Owners should make an appointment to have the update applied, and the process should take less than half-an-hour. All the NaimUniti units shipped in February have included the latest code. This shows as Version 2.00.00 when checking the Uniti status screen.
The key upgrade is the support for 24-bit/96kHz (and 24/88.2) playback of WAV and FLAC files including fixed point 24- and 32-bit files as well as 32-bit floating point variants. Playback of files with a sampling rate above 48kHz is not suggested if using a wireless connection – it may work well but performance cannot be guaranteed.
An additional feature of the update is the enabling of the radio preset to work on any input, a feature requested by existing NaimUniti owners. The update also includes minor updates to improve performance and consistency of performance together with Unicode support giving greater support to Chinese and Cyrillic character sets. This can be a significant benefit when listening to Chinese, Russian, and other esoteric internet radio stations.

February 2010.Naim has released new software – version 1.5 – for the HDX hard disk player, that usefully extends the machine's capabilities.
Version 1.5 brings a major improvement in convenience with rip to NAS and far more flexible networking. Shares are scanned or ignored by selection thus reducing scanning time and improving speed of music availability. This part of the update alone will bring massive benefits to many customers who have large collections of music waiting further ripping.
The addition of a highly specified UPnP server adds huge flexibility as it makes all the HDX active shares available to networked UPnP players — for example, the award-winning NaimUniti and recently launched UnitiQute — with the additional flexibility of: native format; converted to .wav or sampled to 16Bit 44.1kHz depending on the requirements of the UPnP player concerned.
Updates will be available only through authorised Naim retailers.

November 2009.Here's what TONEAudio had to say about the NaimUniti, its Product of the Year...
Because the NaimUniti offers unbeatable performance, value and style, I am very proud to give it our Product of the Year – OVERALL award. While we’ve had the privilege of auditioning some great gear this year, nothing goes further to make great HiFi approachable to everyone than the NaimUniti. For most people, this is all you’ll ever need, while others will probably climb up Naim’s product ladder.
Either way, if the NaimUniti doesn’t make a music lover out of you, nothing will. Read the full article...
